R-409A Refrigerant for Stationary R-12/R-500 Retrofits

R-409A is an A1 (non-flammable) HCFC blend used to service or retrofit legacy R-12 and R-500 stationary systems such as walk-in coolers, beverage/vending equipment, supermarket cases, and light commercial A/C where permitted by OEM guidance and local regulations. It offers familiar performance for medium-temperature applications and is generally compatible with mineral (MO) and alkylbenzene (AB) oils in many existing systems.

AAA Refrigerant supplies R-409A in 24 lb service cylinders with pallet programs for fleet maintenance. This zeotropic blend must be charged as liquid and serviced using dew/bubble references to account for temperature glide. Always follow retrofit bulletins for TXV/drier/seal compatibility and system adjustments.
